Crashes...Solution

It upsets me that it crashes so frequently but, one the creators site, it states if you have an 2.1 iPod or something, it wont work. They say the crashing problem should be fixed if you upgrade to a 3.0 or something(the iPhone update...I think) So I used my 3.0 touch, and it works fantastically. This app is very nice, a great download. I wish they had audio though...at least they have furigana  Dont rate this 1 star cause it crashes on your 2.0. You are making this app look bad when its actually really brilliant. -thats you, "footballgirl" =_=" :) Recently though its been crashing every few minutes, :-/ fix that please? :-)

Fun and useful

This app is very helpful when it comes to brushing up on your vocab, and is even kind of a fun, fresh wY to look at flashcards. My only issue with it is that it resets too quickly.

Ads

If its not enough that the free version serve as enticement to buy the paid version and you must put ads in the app, would you please label it as ad-supported or include a screenshot that shows its an ad-supported app? Thanks.

I want the furigana back

Its hard for me to learn without the furigana

Invaluable

Cant stress that enough. It covers so many basic kanji; Im just so grateful. In future, I would love help learning radicals... That would be a すごい inclusion for future updates. ありがとうございます!

Fun and easy!

I look forward to opening this app and studying everyday. Its a great beginners app that helps you retain what youve learned because you work at your own speed. Its very user friendly. ...I might even consider paying for the full version.

Love It!!!!

Invaluable resource when learning 日本語!

Good but limited

I like the app, but its only good if youre studying N5. I bought the paid version because I think the program is overall very good. Some of the translations are weird, for the record. You might use the term all the time but never think to put it into words like its defined in the app. There are also a few ones where the definition is kind of... almost. Overall a good app.

Finally a good app

This works really well.

Missing sounds

Ive finally mastered hiragana and katakana but I have no vocabulary and I dont have any idea how to properly pronounce different words. If this app had a sound or voice option to hear what was in front of you, Id be amazing!

Terrible background

The content is good, but the new background is so loud and obnoxious, I cannot go past 10 words without stopping. There isnt even an option to turn off the background! I was thinking of buying this, but not anymore!

Good, almost great

Overall its a decent tool. Some of the definitions are, well... a bit off. I think the most needed feature would be questions with the English word requiring you to draw the kanji. I dont feel confident recognizing kanji until I can successfully draw it. Voice would be nice but not necessay. Considering buying the full version. Its a done deal if the kanji drawing feature is added.

Ads make it horrible

Beware: this app has ads. Bad idea if youre really trying to get me to buy the non-free version. Ads are bad enough on a weather app; here Im trying to concentrate and study. Very difficult to do that with ads flashing at the top of the screen. Deleted.

Pretty Good App

Decent app, but its WAY too easy to guess the answer. Say youre testing J->E, you get a something that ends (Romaji-wise) in a u. Youre now pretty sure its a verb. Look at the possible answers? Only one verb. So you pick it and without actually knowing the right answer you get it right. Turning the Kanji Focus option on is even worse. You get a kanji with some okurigana after it and have to pick out from 4 hiragana options. Only, theres only ever one option that ends the same as the kanjis okurigana. There needs to be some "intelligence" about when an option can show up for a question or it will always be way too easy to guess/cheat your way to a 90+% correct answer rate.

Seems to be geared only towards test-passing

Kanji review tests for the English meanings and not the different readings. That in itself is a huge let-down. The most important point of studying the kanji, if the goal is to actually learn Japanese, should be knowing how to read it. This method might help you pass the JLPT but its not going to be very helpful of you intend to read and speak Japanese.

Terrible

It dosnt teach you anything

Meh..

Its okay...

Great, fast, learning!

I was able to master all 103 kanji extremely quickly with this. Please add Level 1, 2, 3 kanji!!!!

Suddenly lost data

It was okay until last week. I lost all my data and the format completely changed. Its testing me in English and I cant change the settings to test me in romanji & kanji only. The vocabulary words this time are better, but I cant use it to study at all.

Solid

I think this is good supplementary review software. I used it just to remember the English rough definitions of 103 kanji.
